Rollins men’s lacrosse announced Monday that attackman Joey Cinque died unexpectedly Sunday morning at age 21.

Cinque, a junior from West Palm Beach, started 13 of Rollins’ 15 games last spring, ranking third on the team with 30 goals. Academically, he earned a spot on the Fall Rollins Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

He attended Christ School in Arden, N.C, where he still holds school records for career goals (176) and goals in a single season (80).

Cinque dreamed of having a career in real estate and was looking to obtain a degree in business management, according to RollinsSports.com. He also enjoyed golfing and fly fishing.

This is the second time in five years Rollins has dealt with a tragic death, as Will Hauver died in February 2015 from complications of the flu related to type 1 diabetes.
